2012 ISRAEL ADVOCACY TRAINING SEMINAR
Sponsored by MERCAZ/Conservative Movement in consultation with Advocates for Israel
Mercaz, the Conservative Movement's Israel advocacy arm, has committed itself to training a core group of Israel Advocates to mobilize their synagogue communities at a special Israel Advocacy training seminar.
The two day seminar will take place Sunday and Monday, April 22-23, at the Holiday Inn Express Palatine/Arlington Heights
1550 East Dundee Road, Palatine, IL 60074. This second seminar, a pilot project of Mercaz-USA, Mercaz-Canada, the World Zionist Organization and Advocates for Israel, is now accepting applications from all members of the Conservative/Masorti movement who wish to become local trainers in the Israel advocacy field.
Participation in the Israel Advocacy Training Seminar will be limited to a total of 50 trainees from all arms of the movement. In particular, we are interested in reaching synagogue members who will form or strengthen local Israel Advocacy committees. All participants will be expected to review certain requisite material in order to guarantee a common baseline of information. In addition, all involved in the seminar will be involved in organized follow-up activities to insure continuity. The application process also requires all participants to obtain recommendation from their congregational rabbi.
The cost of the 2-day seminar is $136 (with a $36 discount for current members MERCAZ USA or MERCAZ-Canada), which covers 1 night accommodations and 4 meals, starting with lunch on Sunday, April 22, through late afternoon snack on Monday, April 23. Travel costs are extra, however, there may be some travel scholarships available depending on need. (separate application required)
Those not accepted for this initial seminar will be placed on a priority list for subsequent workshops.
The first seminar was held at the Pearlstone Conference Center in Reisterstown, MD. As a reference, we have included the schedule from the Pearlstone event here, as a PDF.
If you or someone you know are interested in joining in this effort, please fill out the attached application (PDF or Word.doc and register at RegOnline). An information flyer is available here, PDF.
